5 WHOLEGRAIN + CHIA SEED SOAKED MUSELI with FRUIT COMPOTE & PINEAPPLE CINNAMON COCONUT YOGHURT. This recipe has been requested by our wonderful yoga teacher graduate, Tes heart emoticon

You can often purchase a 5 grain blend of rolled oats, barley, rye, rice & tritacle, however, just oats or a millet flakes if gluten free will work well for this recipe.

Soak grains, chia seeds plus nuts & seeds of your choice (e.g. pepitas, sunflower seeds, almonds) with dried fruit (eg. raisins, gojis, cranberries) overnight with any type of milk (I used almond milk). To lighten you can use water or half water/half milk but the muesli won’t be as creamy. Fresh squeezed fruit juice also works well or fresh squeezed citrus if you want to cleanse. Ensure the liquid covers the mixture by a centimetre and mix all ingredients together well.

Voila! By morning you will have a delicious, soft, creamy muesli that does not require any added milk. Serve with any choice of fresh fruit (in my pic there is mango, cherry, nectarine & passionfruit) plus diced pineapple mixed with a couple of teaspoons of cinnamon into coconut yoghurt. This makes a wonderful vegan recipe, however, cows milk yoghurt would work perfectly.

This recipe will serve as a great boost to your bowel health, keeping you regular and clearing the bowels properly. Many people are currently scared of eating carbs and grains, however, the body needs high fibre to operate at it’s optimum, and to keep weight down. Wholegrains are also a good source of many minerals, such as iron, magnesium, copper, phosphorus and zinc; and a great source of antioxidants and phytochemicals , assisting the lowering of cholesterol levels.
